CAMERON BEAUBIER COMING HOME
Beaubier participated in the 2007 edition of the Red Bull Rookies Cup and the following year was involved in the CEV Repsol in the 125cc category . He made his debut in the lightweight class of the world championship in 2009 and then returned to compete in the US championships where he confirmed his competitiveness . He made his debut as a wildcard in WorldSBK in 2016 at the English Round , managing to get 10 points in Race 2 . Following his experience in the World Championship of series-production , he returned home where he earned 51 wins and collected five AMA Superbike titles . 2021 marks his return to the international scene where he races for the American Racing Team in Moto2™ .
It hasn ’ t been a straightforward season for the Californian . Having enjoyed a spell of near total success in America ’ s national championship for six years , he has upped sticks and moved to a new series ( and continent ) at the age of 28 .
In the space of two months and a handful of preseason tests , he had a new bike and a prototype chassis to learn . There was the small matter of a series of new tracks to learn and re-learn . And there are 29 riders , who grew up racing these circuits , many of them on these bikes , to gauge .
So far Beaubier has been realistic and , at times , very impressive . Normally a Sunday man , he has raced up five point-scoring finishes so far , three of them in the top ten . What ’ s more , he twice crashed out of top ten positions . Getting to ride around the Circuit of the Americas , a track he knows well , should provide the chance for him to post his best result of the year .
