As well as producing consistently great racing , the success of recent champions Ayumu Sasaki ( Moto3 podium finisher in Argentina ), Carlos Tatay ( Moto3 podium finisher in Indonesia ) and Pedro Acosta ( reigning Moto3 World Champion ) shows the current formula works to unearth the stars of tomorrow . For 2022 , 27 of the world ’ s fastest teenagers from 17 different countries will line up for this year ’ s 7-round series . The field of 2022 faced double-headers at Portimao , Portugal and Jerez . Then came Mugello , Italy , the Sachsenring , Germany before this weekend ’ s double header at the Red Bull Ring , Austria on 11th and 12th August before the season finale at Aragon on 17th and 18th September . A host of names will be seeking to step up and take over from the space vacated by the stars of the 2021 grid , namely Colombian David Alonso . Spaniard José Rueda has been the early charger , winning three races and topping the championship . But compatriot Maximo Quiles , Dutchman Collin Veijer , Irishman Casey O ’ Gorman and Italian Luca Lunetta have all showed potential to be in the mix .
