2026 has been far from straightforward for Fermin Aldeguer. The Spaniard’ s second year in the premier class has been disrupted by two serious injuries, which have kept him from four race starts.
2026 no ha sido nada fácil para Fermín Aldeguer. La segunda temporada del español en la categoría reina se ha visto lastrada por dos graves lesiones, que le han impedido tomar la salida en cuatro carreras.
On the back of a splendid rookie season, in which he won the Indonesian Grand Prix and racked up two further podiums, Aldeguer had high hopes for this year. But those were quickly punctured when he broke the femur in his left leg in a training crash in early January.
That left the 21-year old Spaniard on the backfoot after he missed preseason tests in Malaysia and Thailand, as well as the first race.
“ It ' s only the third time that I rode a bike in 2026,” he said upon his return at the second round in Brazil.“ The first one was 8th of January when I got the injury and the second was on a road bike before coming here.( Even just) To be here is a good result for me. If I can finish in the top ten it’ ll be a good result.”
From there, Aldeguer started a run of impressive rides. After encountering some early issues with Ducati’ s GP25, he really found his way at the French Grand Prix. And an incredible podium in Barcelona was a welcome reward the following week.
Tras una espléndida temporada como rookie, en la que ganó el Gran Premio de Indonesia y sumó otros dos podios, Aldeguer tenía grandes esperanzas puestas en este año. Pero esas esperanzas comenzaron a desvanecerse cuando se fracturó el fémur de la pierna izquierda a principios de enero al sufrir un accidente mientras se entrenaba.
Eso dejó al piloto español de 21 años en una situación desfavorable, ya que se perdió los test de pretemporada en Malasia y Tailandia, así como la primera ronda del año.
" Es solo la tercera vez que me subo a una moto en 2026 ", afirmó tras su regreso en la segunda ronda, celebrada en Brasil. " La primera vez fue el 8 de enero, cuando sufrí la lesión, y la segunda fue en una moto de carretera antes de venir aquí. Estar aquí ya es un buen resultado para mí. Si consigo terminar en el Top 10, será un buen resultado ".
A partir de ahí, Aldeguer encadenó una racha de impresionantes actuaciones. Tras sufrir algunos problemas iniciales con la GP25 de Ducati, encontró su ritmo en el Gran Premio de Francia. Y un increíble podio en Barcelona la semana siguiente supuso una gratificante recompensa.
