How early in preseason did he know the potential was there?“ I was quite convinced already before trying the bike. We had access to all the( Ducati riders’) data last year so we saw it quite clearly how they made a big step, especially for my riding style. Already in the first run( in the Barcelona test) I realised that it’ s a really good bike.( I thought),‘ Wow, this is what I’ ve been trying to find all year!’ It was love at first sight.”
In many ways, the younger Marquez brother is in the ideal situation: in a satellite team with a sorted machine, where expectations are lower than those that fall on factory riders Marc Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia. Does it suit him?
“ We don’ t have the pressure,” he said.“ In theory we’ ll lose. This is the theory, but it’ s not always the practice! I know one point of the season will arrive and( the factory team) will introduce some new things that will give something more to them. And we won’ t be able to fight in equal positions. But until that point, I want to continue living the dream, which is leading( the championship – as he was when the interview was held), trying to extract 100 % potential from every race. The theory is we’ ll lose against them so we don’ t have anything to lose.”

" No tenemos presión. En teoría, vamos a perder. Esa es la teoría, ¡ pero no siempre se cumple en la práctica! Sé que llegará un momento de la temporada en que introducirán-el equipo de fábrica- algunas novedades que les dará algo más. Y no podremos luchar en igualdad de condiciones. Pero hasta que llegue ese momento, quiero seguir viviendo el sueño, que es liderar( el Campeonato – su situación cuando se llevó a cabo la entrevista), intentando extraer el 100 % de potencial de cada carrera. La teoría es que perderemos contra ellos, así que no tenemos nada que perder ".
