Continuity is key and that’ s something Yamaha have with their line-up for 2025 as both 2021 World Champion Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins remain with the Iwata manufacturer. Having struggled throughout 2024 and without a podium, changes are coming on the horizon at Yamaha, with a switch from the inline-four engine to a V4 widely anticipated and could be seen on track in 2025. As for their inline four, they had a new engine, chassis and aero spec in the Barcelona test and Quartararo and Rins were quite positive about it.
Yamaha’ s history in the sport is a glorious one, with 245 wins and over 500 races on the podium, although their last win was in Germany three years ago. Whilst it’ s a far cry from the past and even 2022, the Japanese manufacturer face their challenges head on and that’ s also true behind the scenes.
Lin Jarvis has vacated his long-time role and is replaced by Paolo Pavesio. After two seasons without an independent team, Yamaha also grow in presence with Prima Pramac Racing joining the Japanese brand’ s setup for the forthcoming year; Jack Miller and Miguel Oliveira, both experienced, lead the team’ s charge. Beyond that, Augusto Fernandez is Yamaha’ s official test rider, proof that they’ re working on all assets to return to the front.
