O irmão mais novo de Espargaro disparou para a proeminência com um sexto lugar apenas na sua sétima corrida na classe 125 em 2006 . Após quatro épocas na categoria júnior , graduou-se para Moto2™ em 2011 , e ganhou a classe em 2013 . Um lugar em MotoGP™ com Tech 3 Yamaha foi apenas uma recompensa . Mas a decisão de mudar para a KTM em 2017 deu frutos . Espargaro tinha transformado a RC16 num concorrente regular do top ten até 2019 . Melhorou : o catalão marcou cinco pódios e duas poles positions para terminar em quinto lugar na geral em 2020 . Muda-se para a Repsol Honda em 2021 e , apesar de um início difícil , há sinais - um primeiro lugar em Silverstone , um segundo em Emilia Romagna – de que tanto ele como a Honda estão a encontrar os seus pés .
The younger Espargaro brother shot to prominence with a sixth place in just his seventh race in the 125 class in 2006 . After four seasons in the junior category , he graduated to Moto2™ in 2011 , and won the class in 2013 . A seat in MotoGP™ with Tech 3 Yamaha was just reward . But a decision to move to KTM in 2017 bore fruit . Espargaro had turned the RC16 into a regular top ten challenger by 2019 . It got better : the Catalan scored five podiums and two pole positions to finish fifth overall in 2020 . He moves to Repsol Honda in 2021 and despite a tough start , there are signs – a first place at Silverstone , a second in Emilia Romagna – both he and Honda are finding their feet .
