Gamification is one of the many tools which teachers could use to engage students, make learning and teaching more playful and diverse.
Kahoot is an online tool to create quizzes, surveys, initiate and facilitate discussions, and there is also a modified version of the quiz – Jumble – which is based on finding the correct sequence of words, which is particularly useful for language lessons.
All options could be used in any subject for introducing a new topic, evaluating students’ previous knowledge, for summarizing the terms or concepts, both within one subject or integrating many subjects as well, or just to review some older chapters in a more relaxed way.
Kahoot is very easy to create, modify and share. One can add photos (there is a royalty-free Getty images library available) or short video clips.
Kahoot can be created both by teachers and students and played in any place with internet connection and a big enough screen to see the questions. There are 2 options available: individual or team mode. The same quiz can be played simultaneously in different rooms/schools.
