ulekha Lakeca was passionate about art
and design from a young age and could
never see herself working in anything
other than a creative, artistic field. She study art
and design at college, and then on to Birmingham
City University to study Fashion Design. After
graduating she became a freelance illustrator,
and by showcasing her work on social media
was noticed by the Italian dark fashion designer
Francesca Marotta, who invited Zulekha to her
show at London Fashion Week to do live illustration.
In that same year Vogue Italia picked her “feel
what you wear illustration project” as the new
talent of the year. She has since also illustrated for
Spanish fashion designer Liz Black. Later, taking a
break from illustrating she went on to style for the
Miss England Pageant, which was a completely

new experience and something that she felt did
not suit her and her specific style. In order to gain
experience in the creative world of fashion, she
started to collaborate with local talented fashion
photographers on editorial style shoots doing
arranging, concepts and location, make-up artistry,
and designer dresses. After learning about the
world of fashion and the hard work that is involved,
she decided to start making her own collection,
which she is currently developing. She has since
been published in many international magazines
including Asian Bride Magazine and Elate Lab
Magazine, and collaborated with both Cake4u and
the Italian print/textile company, Alcantara.
