we listen to william basinski
while auto-correct insists
on separate ways to look at the same name
like two twins digging to the earth’s core
and we
who are split into multitudinal fallings
feel the piece alone together
with the crunch of loose plastic keyboard keys
and the continuous coughing
the continuously coughing
heater coughing
at intervals
it
tries to do its maker’s will
but only wanders
II.
“people do not live as long as rocks”
“i once lived longer than rocks”

“but can we consider rocks to have lives?”
“no”
“then people live longer than rocks”
