Desert Golf Classic
Golfers joined together at Indianwood Golf and Country Club in Lake Orion , Michigan , on Monday , Sept . 26 , for Sacred Heart Major Seminary ’ s 40th annual Desert Golf Classic .
The event makes possible the Desert Formation Experience , a 30-day spiritual pilgrimage made every spring by first-year graduate seminarians to the sacred sites of the Holy Land . This formation opportunity gives seminarians the chance to walk and pray in the very land where Jesus walked , taught , and worked his miracles . The trip concludes with a visit to the city of Rome that includes a Wednesday audience with the Holy Father .
Despite the rain and cooler temperatures , the golfers prevailed with a shotgun start at 11:00 a . m . Golfers enjoyed lunch and beverages on the course throughout the day and were awarded various prizes , including a $ 10,000 Hole-in- One , Longest Drive , and Closest to the Pin , along with 50 / 50 and other raffles . A strolling reception and program followed the day of golf . The first-place team included Brian Bastic , Greg Pope , Don Roe , and Rev . Chas Canoy . Closest to the Pin and winner of the coveted Cardinal Dearden Cupu went to Rev . Scott Thibodeau , and Longest Drive was won by Rev . Chas Canoy .
