Night’s Tether by Kyle Antholt Hooves dashing toward a light on the barren ground, Hooves of something pure in soul, In a place where darkness surrounds Everything as a whole. The light shines ahead In the dead of Night. Though it’s bright and everywhere spread, There’s no other head in sight. No other soul faces my path— Black around, cold as stone— And on my back I feel Night’s wrath, Then I know I’m not alone. I feel Night’s arms wrap around me, And in my ear She whispers “Stay,” But from this Night I must break free, And to my light I make my way. While the white radiance sought To clear the dark, Its pure glow taught The soul shall stay stark! Light stay strong, Light stay bright, Pull me along From this endless Night. Hooves dashing toward a light on the barren ground; Each step closer, each step farther— To the Night everything is bound, And nothing reaches that radiant harbor. Celestial Palette by Allie Kohler 32
