Fr. Richard Cassidy , professor of Sacred
Scripture attended the annual Studiorum Novi
Testamenti Societas meeting, Athens, Greece,
August.
Dr. Robert Fastiggi , professor of systematic
theology, revised and updated the translation
of Ludwig Ott’s Fundamentals of Catholic
Dogma, (Baronius Press, June, 2018); at-
tended a course in Rome on Marian appari-
tions September 17–22; was a speaker at the
International Marian Association’s confer-
ence, Ave Maria University, Ave Maria, Flor-
ida, September 14–15; spoke at the Marian
Conference, Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine,
La Crosse, Wisconsin, October 14–15; and
spoke at two conferences on Humanae Vitae,
October.
Fr. Charles Fox , director of graduate semi-
narians, led seminarians in the annual preach-
ing skills workshop in May; and published the
following articles for The Catholic World
Report: “Hope in the Face of Crisis,” July 27,
“To Know and Do God’s Will: A Short Igna-
tian Primer,” July 31, “Our Tainted Nature’s
Solitary Boast,” August 15, “My Flesh for the
Life of the World: the Eucharist and Evange-
lization,” August 19, and “At the Altar yet Far
from the Lord,” August 25.
Tamra Fromm , part-time faculty, presented
the following academic papers: “Encounter
Ex Ecclesia” and “Faith in Flux: Stimulating
Fowler’s Individuative-Reflective Stage” at
the International Association for the Study
of Youth Ministry European Biennial Con-
ference, April 2018, Archbishop’s Seminary,
Rabat, Malta.
Dr. John Gresham , director of distance
education and online learning, gave a talk on
“Ezekiel and Jude Speak to a Church in Cri-
sis,” to Legatus in Peoria, Illinois, September
28.
Dr. Mary Healy , professor of Sacred Scrip-
ture, participated in a dialogue “After 50 Years
of Catholic Charismatic Renewal: Reflections
on Spirit Baptism” at the Society for Pente-
costal Studies annual meeting, Pentecostal
Theological Seminary, Cleveland, Tennessee,
March 8; presented at the Priests, Deacons,
and Seminarians Retreat, Franciscan Univer-
sity of Steubenville on June 18-22; gave three
lectures on “The Holy Spirit in the letters of
St. Paul,” at the Summer Scripture Seminar,
Mundelein Institute for Ongoing Formation,
Mundelein Seminary, June 25-26; and spoke
on healing and deliverance at clergy conferenc-
es for the dioceses of Vancouver on September
20, and Colorado Springs on October 3.

Dr. Timothy Hogan , part-time faculty, gave
the keynote address at “Navigating the Waters
of Cultural Change in the Family,” teacher’s
convocation, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Au-
gust 7; and gave two presentations, “Thriving
Healthy Marriages and Families—Thriving
Healthy Catechists and Parishes,” and “How
to Speak Honestly and Respectfully with Chil-
dren and Adults about LGBTQ Persons,” at
the workshop for catechists and parents, Dio-
cese of Wichita, September 9.
Fr. Daniel Jones , associate professor of
theology, taught a compressed course, “The
Paschal Mystery,” and “The Mystery of the
Church,” to the Missionaries of Charity in
Kolkata, India, August 4-15.
Dr. Daniel Keating , professor of theology,
presented a four lecture series on Homosexu-
ality and Gender Theory, Beirut, Lebanon,
July 20-22; participated in a Muslim-Catholic
Dialogue, and spoke on opportunities for co-
operating on social justice, Church of the Di-
vine Child, Dearborn, Michigan, September
24; offered a paper on “Robust and Receptive
Ecumenism: Challenges and Opportunities”
at the Lilly Conference, Hope College, Hol-
land, Michigan, October 12-14; and published
a book entitled The Adventure of Discipleship, in
the Living Faith Series, (Emmaus Road Pub-
lishing, November 2018).
Dr. Mark Latkovic , professor of moral and
systematic theology, taught the course “Moral
Aspects of Theological Anthropology,” STL
program, 2018; published “Personalism: An
Integral Vision of Sex and the Person,” in In-
separable: Five Perspectives on Sex, Life, and Love
in Defense of Humanae Vitae (Catholic Answers
Press, July 2018), Chapter 3, pp. 97-118; pub-
lished a book review of Jonathan Sanford’s
Before Virtue: Assessing Contemporary Virtue Eth-
ics (CUA Press, 2015), in National Catholic
Bioethics Quarterly Vol. 18, No. 2 (Summer
2018): 380-385; and gave a talk “The Encycli-
cal Humanae Vitae (1968) Amidst the Ruins
of the Sexual Revolution,” for St. Frances

Msgr. Daniel Trapp , associate professor of
systematic theology, liturgy, and sacraments,
helped lead Desert Formation Experience in
the Holy Land and Rome, May 2-31; gave re-
treats at the Institute for Priestly Formation
in Omaha, Nebraska, June 3-8; and preached
at a retreat for priests of the Archdiocese of
Denver, September 3-7.
Dr. Peter S. Williamson , Adam Cardinal
Maida Chair in Sacred Scripture, presented
“What’s Catholic about Catholic Biblical
Scholarship?” at the annual meeting of the
Catholic Biblical Association, Regis Universi-
ty in Denver (July 21-23); published two books
co-edited with other authors: The Great Ad-
venture Catholic Bible (Ascension Press) and
Pablo Gadenz’s Gospel of Luke (Baker Aca-
demic), a volume of the Catholic Commen-
tary on Sacred Scripture; and participated in
a public debate at Wayne State University on
the topic “Is the Christian Jesus (Isa) a Hoax?”
with Dr. David Skrbina of University of Mich-
igan, Dearborn (Oct 17).
