LEARN TO “REBUILD YOUR PARISH”

he dynamic new
speaker series, In the
Heart of the Church, kicks
off its 2016-17 schedule on
Thursday, November 10.
The series is designed to
enrich the spirituality—and
ignite the enthusiasm—of
lay ministry students and lay
ministers working throughout the Archdiocese of Detroit and surrounding dioceses. The program features
presentations by renowned
Catholic leaders who are
experts in evangelization.
Each installment of In the Heart of the
Church begins at Noon, ends at 3:00 PM,
is free of charge, and even includes a free
box lunch.
Fr. Michael White and Mr. Tom
Corcoran, co-authors of two books on
parish renewal, are the featured speakers
at the November event.
Father Michael is pastor of the Church
of the Nativity in Timonium, Maryland,
and Mr. Corcoran is responsible for the
parish’s strategic planning as associate
to the pastor. They will share insights
from their first book, Rebuilt: Awakening
the Faithful, Reaching the Lost, and Making
Church Matter.
Rebuilt tells the story of how the
Church of the Nativity was “brought back
to life” when the two leaders combined
modern-day communication techniques
with traditional Catholic spirituality and
the basic Gospel message. Mass attendance at the parish tripled, participation
in various parish ministries exploded,
and stewardship initiatives flourished.
Father Michael and Mr. Corcoran also
will be presenting tips from Tools for Rebuilding: 75 Really, Really Practical Ways
to Make Your Parish Better, their latest
publishing collaboration. Tools lays out
practical tactics that parish leaders can
easily apply to rejuvenate the faith life of
parishioners and “make church matter to
people in the pews.” (Both books have
sold over 100,000 copies jointly.)
