Dr. Philip Blosser, professor of philosophy, published“ The Concept of‘ Person’ in Keiji Nishitani and Max Scheler,” International Philosophical Quarterly( June 17, 2016); a review of The Cambridge Companion to the Summa Theologiae, edited by Philip McCosker and Denys Turner( Cambridge University Press, 2016), in CHOICE Current Review for Academic Libraries( June 29, 2016); and a review of The Hidden God: Luther, Philosophy, and Political Theology( Indiana University Press, 2016), in CHOICE Current Review for Academic Libraries( June 16, 2016).
Dr. Mary Healy, professor of Sacred Scripture, gave three lectures on Scripture and evangelization, Anthony Jordan Lecture Series, Newman Theological College, Edmonton, Alberta, March 4-5; presented a study day on“ Mercy Freely Received and Freely Given,” priests of the Diocese of Raleigh, NC, May 19; and spoke at a round table on baptism in the Holy Spirit, pre-World Youth Day event, Łódź, Poland, July 22.
Fr. Pierre Ingram, CC, assistant professor of theology, took part in the Spring 2016 Colloquium in Catholic Studies, Aquinas College, Grand Rapids, MI, providing a response to a presentation by Fr. Rob Johansen, entitled“ Liturgy: The Basis of Western Culture,” April 4.
Fr. Daniel Jones, associate professor of theology, gave a Short Course in the Church Fathers to the Missionaries of Charity, Porte-au-Prince, Haiti, June 17- 25. He attended the annual study week of the St. John Fisher Society, the Divine Missions in the Economy of Salvation, July 3-8.
Dr. Daniel Keating, professor of theology, participated as one of four presenters in a seminar“ Chastity and the Gay Catholic,” Hope College, Holland,
MI, February 20. He lectured on“ A New Season for Catholic-Evangelical Dialogue,” Third Annual Lecture on Christian Unity, University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN, February 25; and presented a series on the Trinity and Worship, Beirut, Lebanon, July 21-24.
Dr. Mark Latkovic, professor of moral theology, published five articles, including“ Thinking About Technology from a Catholic Moral Perspective: A Critical Consideration of Ten Models,” The National Catholic Bioethics Quarterly( Winter 2015); was an outside examiner for an MA Philosophy thesis from The University of Notre Dame, Australia; and taught a new STL Seminar,“ Virtue Ethics & the New Evangelization,” summer 2016.
Dr. Ralph Martin, professor of theology, gave multiple talks on“ Evangelization and Holiness,” at the Statewide Priests Convocation, Anchorage, AK, February 22-26, and the Clergy Convocation, Diocese of Arlington, VA, April 25-29. He delivered a paper,“ Sacramental Fruitfulness and the Power of Pentecost,” Academy of Catholic Theology, Washington, D. C., May 25.
Dr. Michael McCallion, Chair of Catholic Social Analysis, published an article for the journal Religions( May 2016),“ An Institutional and Status Analysis of Youth Ministry in the Archdiocese of Detroit.” He presented“ Liturgy and the New Evangelization,” Notre Dame Center for Liturgy annual conference, South Bend, IN. He has an article under review for Church: A Journal for the New Evangelization, titled“ Practices of the New Evangelization: Devotional Prayer, Meetings, and Service.” He taught summer courses for the STL program( Devotions and the New Evangelization, and The Family and the New Evangelization), summer 2016.
Dr. Edward Peters, Edmund Cardinal Szoka Chair, published“ Retrospectives on the first three years of Francis’ s pontificate,” Inside the Vatican( March 2016); reviewed Thomas Baima’ s What is a Parish: Canonical, Pastoral, and Theological Perspectives for Homiletic & Pastoral Review on-line( June 2016); and attended the Family of St. Jerome’ s Intensive Latin study week, New Orleans, LA, July 11-18.
Msgr. Daniel Trapp, associate professor of systematic theology, liturgy, and sacraments, gave a presentation on Urban Parish Ministry, St. Alexius Catholic Medical Guild, Our Lady of Mercy Parish, Sarnia, Ontario, March 7; and led an afternoon workshop on Celibacy for the diaconate candidates and their wives, St. Damien of Molokai Parish, Pontiac, MI, April 2.
