Swanville / Upsala: Home of warm welcomes
When the snow falls on western Morrison County, the lights come on in Swanville and Upsala. Just a few miles apart, these communities share more than a county line. They share a spirit of pride, perseverance and hospitality that defines rural Minnesota life.
Swanville is home to 334 residents who know the value of good neighbors and great traditions. Lions Park is the centerpiece of town— a year-round gathering spot that hums with life. Just to the east, Upsala carries its own proud heritage— a town where church steeples rise over snow-covered streets and neighbors still greet each other by name. Founded by Swedish settlers and now home to just over 450 residents. Whether it’ s skating under the stars in Swanville or caroling through town in Upsala, winter here isn’ t something to endure— it’ s something to celebrate.

Friday, Dec. 5 • Holiday music with Homemade Jammin’
A special concert from musical group Homemade Jammin’. 7-8 p. m. at the Upsala library.
Saturday, Dec. 6 • Breakfast with Santa in Upsala
Santa will be at Upsala Area School for breakfast, from 8:30 a. m. – 11 a. m. Children can visit with Santa Claus and have their picture taken with him A bake sale and Wee Shop Christmas shopping will be on site as well.
Dec. 8 • Swanville middle, high school concert
Swanville 5th-12th grade students are performing their annual band Christmas program at 7 p. m.
Dec. 14-22 • Christmas Lights Contest in Upsala
Judges of the Christmas Lights Contest will view residential and business lights the week of Dec. 14. Winners announced Dec. 22.
Tuesday, Dec. 16 • Upsala Elementary Concert
Upsala Elementary students are performing their annual Christmas program. K-2nd grade 1 p. m. and 6 p. m. and 3rd-6th grade 1:30 p. m. and 6:30 p. m.
Tuesday, Dec. 16 • Winter Concert in Swanville
Swanville elementary students will perform their winter concerts in the Swanville auditorium. Kindergarten and first graders will perform at 1:30 p. m. 2nd and 3rd will perform at 2 p. m. Grades 4-6 will perform at 2:30 p. m.
Monday, Dec. 22 • Upsala Band Concert Upsala students, grades 5-12, will present a band concert at 7:30 p. m. in the Upsala School auditorium.
Saturday, Dec. 20 • Santa Day in Swanville Swanville Santa Day will be held from 10 a. m.- noon at the Swanville Center in Swanville.
