• Environmental Health - Licenses and inspects food , beverage and lodging establishments , pools , youth camps , recreational camps and mobile home parks ; inspections are made for compliance with state and local requirements ; special event licensing ; tobacco licensing ; public health nuisance follow-up ; resource for air , water quality and home environmental concerns .
• Child and Teen Checkup ( CTC ) - preventative health screening outreach for children birth to 20 years old enrolled in medical assistance .
• Disease Prevention and Control - Responding to and educating the public on emerging infectious disease threats .
• Statewide Health Improvement Program ( SHIP ) Grant - utilizes community mobilizing to help Minnesotans live longer , better , healthier lives to reduce the burden of chronic diseases by addressing physical inactivity , poor nutrition and tobacco use ; local strategies include ( 1 ) Schools setting - nutrition and physical activity , ( 2 ) Workplace setting - nutrition , physical activity , breastfeeding and tobacco ; ( 3 ) Healthcare setting - clinical - community linkages and evidenced - based programs , and ( 4 ) Community setting - tobacco ( point of sale ) and healthy eating .
Emergency Preparedness :
• Public Health Preparedness - Working at local regional and state level to develop a strong system for responding to a wide range of potential disasters , including bioterrorism , disease outbreaks , floods and tornadoes .
• Health Alert Network - Communication system with local healthcare and other partners for notifications of current health emergencies .
• Emergency Medical Services - Facilitate and promote First Response Teams
Emergency Preparedness : Morrison County Public Health works at the local , regional and state level to develop a strong system for responding to a wide range of potential disasters , including bioterrorism , as well as natural events such as disease outbreaks , floods and tornadoes . Morrison County Public Health also participates in a state-level system called the Health Alert Network ( HAN ). This system detects unusual disease patterns or health threats and sends out alerts to local public health agencies . Public Health sends these messages to health care providers , hospitals , clinics and others in the network .
