Little Falls , population 9,140 , is the county seat for Morrison County . The Historic Courthouse and a large County Government Center are located in the center of the city .
The city is home to St . Gabriel ’ s Hospital , the Family Medical Center and Little Falls Orthopedics .
Also found in the city are the Carnegie Library , parks , playgrounds and museums , including Linden Hill , the Charles A . Weyerhaeuser Museum and the Minnesota Fishing Museum and Hall of Fame .
The city has an indoor hockey arena , two outdoor skating rinks and two outdoor hockey rinks .
The Pine Grove Zoo is home to exotic and native animals , as well as serene walking trails , picnic and playground areas .
Little Falls has a rich history dating back to before the time Minnesota became a state . Today , it boasts manufacturers and businesses such as AirBorn , Barrett Petfood North Freeze Dry and Wabash National .
The Mississippi River runs through the heart of the town . Charles Lindbergh , the famous aviator , called Little Falls home . He is honored with a state park in his name , which features miles of hiking , biking and snowmobile trails along the banks of the Mississippi River . The Lindbergh Historic Site is the location of his boyhood home and a museum dedicated to the aviator ’ s life .
The high school and middle school teams , known as the Flyers , are also named in Lindbergh ’ s honor .
The school district has a public high school , middle school and three elementary schools , as well as a parochial elementary and middle school .
