Every once in a while, life comes unwound. This year has seen its share of wild weather. Unusually ferocious storms, raging tornadoes and winter hurricanes have been scouring the earth with their fury. Even with all the technology at our fingertips, we are essentially left to Mother Nature’s beck and call when the forces of wind, water, earth and fire come to play. channeled guidance & spirit whispers: Waiting out the storm Sometimes, you can see the maelstrom building – just like in your own life – and fear begins to rise in your innards. Most times, we tend to think that the storms catch us unawares. However, it’s usually the opposite – we just don’t want to pay attention to the signs and signals building all around us which would serve as early warning systems. When you’ve been doing the work you will find that you have an intuitive way of being protected from these storms. Even with all the unbridled rage and fury, wind-whipped epithets seemingly bounce off and fall flat onto the ground, leaving very little damage in their wake. Everything seems to fall flat. When a storm isn’t able to find sufficient energy to keep regenerating, the storm cannot maintain itself and ultimately has to dissipate. The same goes for humans – when you remain still and resolute and don’t contribute to the unfortunate situation swirling around you, the fury becomes little more than a whimper and fades out. You may have to pause to catch your breath the first time or two, but once you go through the stormy cycle a couple of times, you won’t be caught unawares and without adequate protection. In that moment, that I am grateful for the opportunities for growth that comes in those quiet moments. I am thankful for knowing I will continue to grow in new ways. The lesson is not to turn tail and run when life becomes difficult and/ or uncertain. Rather, stand your ground, sinking your roots deep into Mother Earth and let her provide sustenance and nurture during the difficult periods. Remember, you’re not alone. You have allies – very important ones who will be at your side as you go through these important growth points. istockphoto.com At that point, it’s too late and all we can do is ride it out and hope that the damage is repairable. Unfortunately, we are too often guilty of not having taken precautions to protect our own selfinterests.
