So here we are in the month dedicated to Love. The
intention isn’t to bore you with the stereotypical romantic
archetypes, but instead venture a bit afield and focus on
the one love that most of us work so hard to avoid – that
being love of self!
And why is this so hard? Early on, we’re taught to focus
outward – taking care of other peoples’ needs and
submerge the individual. Unfortunately, in the busy
bustling western world, this message is learned at an early
age and it can take decades to undo the damage.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with putting yourself
first. Like when flying on an airplane, the cabin attendants
make a point of saying that in an emergency, put on the
oxygen mask for yourself first – before responding to and
helping children or others that may be in need. If it’s okay
to do so in an emergency, why shouldn’t it be okay to put
yourself first all the time?

things you can do for yourself. If eating right and staying
physically active are important to you, it’s a good bet
that you probably think you’ve got this one licked. And,
most folks consider themselves to be engaged at some level of spirituality.
Okay, so we’ve got two out of three – the physical and spiritual bodies,
but we’re missing the most important aspect of the perfect trifecta – the
emotional body.
