Q: So what got you both interested in Motorcycles? I know you both started in MMI but what created that spark? Pete: I have been around motorcycles from day 1. I have never know my father not to have a motorcylce. Even from there I have two older brothers, So growing up in my house, my oldest brother always rode sports bikes. He and my father tought me how to ride on a old Suzuki GS1100, which was way to big for me considering I was only 12 years old. I have been riding on the road since I was 14 when I got my Permit. My older brothers were always in the garage tinkering around with stuff. I grew up going to swap meets, pieceing together an old 58 Pan Head , it never did get built though, I know the guy who has it and still plan on getting it Kari: I didnt grow up knowing that I was going to get into this. The original spark was from a friend of my moms, I was always a tomboy growing up and he always told me “Whatever you do in your future Kari, Stay away from bikers.” So fo that reason, I think thats why I always gravitated twoards this life style. My dad always had bikes growing up, I call him my dad because he has always been a dad to me but he is my stepfather. He was finally able to buy a Harley when I was 16 and thats when I knew that thats where I wanted my future to go. Q: So why such the big push for Harley at Blue Ribbon? Kari: It’ American. Pete: Yeah, The whol American Motorcycle thing, American beer, American Motorcylce. I have owned sports bikes, but my passion and love lie with Harley. There is just something about them, the sound, the feel, the commrodery of the people that ride Harleys. thats whay inspired me to own Harleys. 34 35
