THANKS TO A LOGISTICAL INNOVATION
Avant l ’ arrivée des premiers patients dans le nouvel hôpital , la période de mise en service , ou activation , s ’ avère incontournable afin de réaliser divers projets et formations cliniques et logistiques , et de tester des systèmes complexes .
L ’ un des projets modifie considérablement les trajets de livraison et la logistique : les 30 derniers mètres . Il sert à définir les processus et les rôles de chacun , en lien avec les processus d ’ approvisionnement dans les unités de soins .
Pourquoi 30 mètres ? « C ’ est une expression qui symbolise la dernière étape de la chaîne d ’ approvisionnement ayant pour fil d ’ arrivée le patient , explique Luc Dumoulin , conseiller en planification logistique . Nous nous sommes concentrés dans un premier temps sur le transport du matériel indispensable aux unités de soins ( prélèvements , denrées alimentaires , lingerie , etc .). L ’ exercice pourra par la suite être adapté à d ’ autres secteurs de l ’ hôpital . »
Désormais , la majorité du transport de matériel sera effectué par les véhicules autoguidés ( VAG ). Ainsi , le personnel de soins n ’ aura plus à pousser des chariots remplis de matériel . Soixante-dix VAG , l ’ une des innovations majeures au cœur de la réorganisation logistique du nouvel hôpital , effectueront quotidiennement environ 3 500 déplacements de matériel ; ensuite , ce sont les magasiniers qui procéderont au réapprovisionnement du matériel aux endroits appropriés .
Ce projet est une occasion exceptionnelle de revoir les façons de faire afin d ’ améliorer la productivité et l ’ efficacité , en toute sécurité pour les patients et le personnel . De plus , les cliniciens , libérés des activités logistiques , pourront se consacrer davantage aux patients . M
Before the first patients make their way through the doors of the new hospital , the launch , or activation , period is an absolute necessity for carrying out various projects , offering clinical and logistical training , and testing complex systems .
One such project substantially alters delivery routes and logistical practices , namely the last 30 meters , designed to define the processes and roles of each and every individual involved in the care unit procurement process .
Why 30 meters ? “ Because ,” explains logistics consultant Luc Dumoulin , “ it is an expression that symbolizes the last stage in the supply chain before making it to the finish line , in this case the patient . Initially , our focus is the transport of materials vital to the functioning of the care unit , for example , specimens , foodstuffs , linens , etc . The exercise can then be adapted to other sectors within the hospital .”
From now on , automated guided vehicles ( AGVs ) will , for the most part , transport hospital materials — just one of the major innovations at the core of the new hospital ’ s logistical reorganization . A fleet of 70 AVGs will make approximately 3500 hospital trips daily , meaning that care providers will no longer be pushing carts . Warehouse operators will be entrusted with the replenishment of goods to the appropriate locations .
This project is an outstanding opportunity to examine operational practices in order to safely improve productivity and efficiency . Furthermore , clinicians are spared logistical tasks and are thus able to spend more time on patients . M
