Early Stage Clinical
Trial Initiative
The Early Stage Clinical Trial (ESCT) Initiative aims to make the
Montréal metropolitan area and Quebec an effective and efficient
global centre of expertise in carrying out early stage clinical trials.
Achieving its objective will help attract at least $240 million in direct
private investments to Greater Montréal within five years, leading to
the creation of 500 new jobs, in addition to increasing investments in
other types of clinical research. In five years, 9,000 patients will have
access to new treatment options.
In 2015, Montréal InVivo adopted the 2016-2021 ESCT Initiative
Development Plan, which provides four core strategies for recruitment,
advocacy, business development and operational efficiency.
The project has hosted some working groups and met a dozen
organizations to prepare a plan in lockstep with best practices and
the needs of Greater Montréal. To support the need to step up its
activities in 2015 and 2016, Montréal InVivo has received $272,500
in government grants (provincial and federal) and private and
institutional contributions.
