Tuesday morning will be filled with excavation and artifact identification ! You will also learn about the power of place when you start the day with an exclusive Cemetery Tour with Dr . Matthew Reeves .
On Wednesday and Thursday , you will begin your day with exclusive walking tours of non- Madison sites , and metal detecting with Dennis Bjorkland . Both afternoons will be filled with more field work .
Friday will be a day of reflection , as you start the day with a woods walk with Dr . Matthew Reeves before moving on to find out firsthand what happens to artifacts after excavation as you spend a day working with our Archaeology Laboratory staff . We invite you to join us for a reflective discussion in the afternoon to recount your experience on the program . We will also host a celebratory farewell reception , where we will hold a graduation ceremony to commemorate your week with us .
No prior experience is necessary to participate in this program . As long as you are excited to learn — and get a little dirty — we want you to join us ! This experience is also family friendly , and we welcome participants ages 12 to 90 .
Since this is a multiday program , you will also have the option to live on the historic Montpelier property for the duration of your time with us .
