City hosts festivals , activities all year long

Monticello is a city that loves to celebrate all year round . In addition to Riverfest , Brewfest and Let ’ s Chalk , the city also hosts other annual festivals , including GlowFest , Walk ‘ N Roll and FatBikeFest .
This year ’ s Monticello GlowFest parade will be held Saturday , Feb . 24 . Last year ’ s GlowFest featured a community glow parade , cardboard art sled rally , food , fires , interactive art and more . Start getting those glow costumes ready .
The 2024 FatBikeFest is slated for Saturday , Feb . 17 on the trails at Montiview Park . There are four race classes : Women ’ s Rec or Advanced and Men ’ s Rec or Advanced ; with awards going to the top three in each class .
Walk ‘ N Roll is a chance for all residents to enjoy Monticello ’ s outdoors . In 2022 , the annual June event moved to Walnut Street in the heart of Monticello , drawing huge crowds downtown .
The annual Walk ‘ N Roll Community Pathway Celebration allows citizens to join hundreds of people walking , biking or skating the pathways of Monticello , while stopping at up to 70 booths to play games and learn about local businesses .
Walk ‘ N Roll came together as a grassroots effort to essentially revitalize Monticello . An extremely active coalition of citizens formed different committees that focused on making Monticello a better place to live and work . Residents wanted to make a commitment to health , and pushed for
26 | MONTICELLO | Community Guide 2024 pathway development . That effort started a chain of events that led to a community survey in August 1992 which revealed a strong interest in constructing more trails . Their preference was to see paths for walking and biking .
Walk ‘ N Roll also offers a chance for all residents to enjoy Monticello ’ s beautiful parks and trail system .
Each summer , Monticello invites the community to enjoy live music and movies in the park .
The Music on the Mississippi series runs the third Wednesday of the month from 6 to 8 p . m . at Ellison Park overlooking the beautiful Mississippi River . Bring a chair and your dancing shoes and enjoy live music . Food , beer and beverages are available for purchase .
Movies in the Park are aired in Pioneer Park , where moviegoers can bring a lawn chair or blanket and some snacks . Concessions are available for purchase from Riverside Students .
Monticello has a popular farmers ’ market that runs year round , with the outdoor market season starting in mid-May and ending on the last Thursday in September .
The outdoor market is held on Thursdays from 3:30 to 7 p . m . in the parking lot of the Monticello Public Library at 200 W . 6th St .
In the colder months , the Monticello Community Center hosts the market on select Saturdays from 9 a . m . to noon .
