Here’ s are a few favorites that always draw a crowd:

Farmers market
Monticello is home to a popular farmers market that operates year-round. The outdoor market runs from mid-May through the last Thursday in September and is held Thursdays from 3:30 to 7 p. m. in the parking lot of the Monticello Public Library, 200 W. Sixth St.
During the colder months, from November through March, the market moves indoors to the Monticello Community Center and is held the second Saturday of each month from 9 a. m. to noon.
In addition to serving as a place to shop, the farmers market is a social gathering spot where neighbors reconnect. Vendors offer fresh produce, baked goods, maple syrup, honey and handcrafted items, supporting local farmers, food producers and artisans.

Outdoor movies and music
Each summer, Monticello invites the community to enjoy live music and movies in the park.
The Music on the Mississippi series will return to West Bridge Park this summer for outdoor evening concerts overlooking the beautiful Mississippi River. Bring a chair and your dancing shoes and enjoy live music. Food, beer and beverages are also available for purchase.
Movies in the Park are aired in Pioneer Park, where moviegoers can bring a lawn chair or blanket and some snacks. Concessions are available for purchase from Riverside Students.
City-wide Garage Sale
Each spring, bargains abound during Monticello’ s Community-Wide Garage Sale, sponsored by the Monticello Times, which prints a map with all of the locations.
Anyone is welcome to take part, setting up a yard or garage sale, and shoppers come from far and wide to scour the city for treasures.
