RECYCLE TEXTILES WORKSHOP
WITH KERRY ARGENT
Kerry Argent, 2015 winner of Sculpture by the
Sea is is an award winning artist with extensive
experience. Kerry's successful arts practice
combines numerous strengths including using
recycled and found objects, fabric and textile crafts
and working on community art projects. Living in
the rural region of Lake Grace, Kerry has drawn
on farming practices and uses wool and welding
skills for many of her creations. Start saving your
textile scraps and learn how to create beautiful
and possibly useful art with fabric, yarn and other
textiles at this workshop.

BUSINESS BREAKFAST SERIES
The Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce and
Industry (PHCCI) and South Hedland Business
Breakfast Series is holding a monthly event
that briefs the local business community on
issues impacting regional economic growth
and development and regularly includes major
project updates. These well-attended sessions
attract expert speakers/panelists and strong
representation from business, industry and
government leaders. The series provides an

COOKING UP A STORM
Run by Frontier Services this cooking
demonstration happens on the last Friday every
month. Someone from a different country or
culture cooks each month and visitors are treated
to a lesson in a different cuisine and a taste of
what has been prepared in front of them. We are
always looking for cooks to help out too.

PHOENIX 2015 - VOLUNTEERS
NEEDED!
On Saturday 5 September, Port Hedland
International Airport will be conducting an
emergency exercise simulating an emergency
landing of an aircraft on the airport. Excercise
'PHOENIX 2015' will commence at 6.30pm to
9.30pm. Set up for the exercise will occur from
4.30pm. Port Hedland Airport is seeking up
50 volunteers to act as injured and distressed
'passengers' who have experienced a difficult
landing. Volunteers will need to be in good health
and commit to the exercise for the entire period.
Due to the risks associated with this type of
activitity, children under 16 are not able to take
part. Refreshments will be provided on the day.
