As acollector of souvenirs and photos that spark
memories , I ’ mabig fan of our Readers ’ Choice poll . For me , the annual roundup serves as a snapshot in time — and with this 8th edition , ahistorically significant one . In days to come , I ’ ll flip open mycopy and remember the people and businesses who distinguished themselves — during apan- demic ! Some seem ageless — thinking ofyou , Tierney ’ sTavern , American Royal Hardware , Highlawn Pavilion — while others , such asMarcel Bakery and Kitchen , Faubourg and Java Love , show promise as future mainstays ofthe community .
Montclair residents appreciate quality that endures . In “ Preserve and Protect ,” we look ataprime example of ahome renovation ( here , an apartment on The Crescent ) that retains the space ’ s historic elements while bringing it squarely into the 21st century .
