concrete – an attractive and economical option – covers the basement floor. On the right hand wall is a photograph of Christo’ s“ Gates” by Montclair artist Jay Seldin. Top left are modern walnut and brushed nickel bookshelves from ISS Designs, known for both their commercial and residential lines. Included among more recent titles: a series of antique volumes from Cathy’ s great grandparents, comprised of works by Kipling, Chaucer, and other English wordsmiths. Center left, a wall is decorated with stock certificates from the previous owner to form an idiosyncratic wall covering. Center right is an antique relic from Gulf gasoline, purchased near Cooperstown, NY, an energizing backdrop for Cathy’ s exercise bicycle. Bottom left is Conrad’ s office, featuring a beautifully crafted wood veneer desk with beveled drawers from Design within Reach, a cow skin rug acquired during a visit to Argentina and a retro-patterned couch that reflects the home’ s’ 60s theme. ■
