An Artful Living Space
The dining area, open to the living room, features an elegant Danish modern rosewood dining table and chairs – also acquired from the previous owner – and the focal point of the room, a chic glass chandelier around which the dining room was planned. Behind the table sits a stylish wooden sideboard with doors covered in shagreen made from the skin of the skate fish. Above it is a commanding mixed media print by artist Lisa Fromartz, and upon it is a gold pitcher with subtle tooling, created by artist Sasha B.“ The pitcher was a serendipitous find that reminded me of my childhood, since my parents owned a piece by the same artist,” says Cathy. Directly behind the sideboardisa floating wall createdbyNew York-based architect / designer Amy Graydon, who oversaw the entire renovation. The Finks gutted the kitchen and removed two walls to create a sense of openness in accordance with the rest of the house. A‘ 60s-style patterned glass backsplash invigorates the neutral kitchen and echoes the lines of the chandelier above the Eero Saarinen kitchen table. Dark wood veneer cabinets dovetail with the stained hardwood floors( that cover the entire first floor), and a Caesarstone quartz countertopseamlessly wraps around the sides of the cabinets.
