Spring is a busy season at the Montclair Historical Society. Here, two of their
many upcoming events:
FILM SCREENING
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 23, 7 P.M.
As part of its Price of Liberty
film series focusing on civil
rights and the African-American
experience, the society will
host a screening of
ROSENWALD. Julius Rosenwald
(1862-1932), in addition to being
a part owner and leader of
Sears, Roebuck and Company,
was a philanthropist concerned
with the education of AfricanAmerican children. This 2015
film explores his partnership
with Booker T. Washington,
which created 5,400 schools
and YMCA’s in African-American
communities across the U.S.
Following the screening, Dr.
Leslie Wilson of Montclair State
University will host a Q-and-A session and discussion. The event is free and will
be held at the Montclair Public Library, 50 South Fullerton Ave. For additional
information, visit www.montclairhistorical.org, or call 973-744-1796.
