IN CONVERSATION WITH PAUL GIAMATTI
MONTCLAIR FILM , the nonprofit organization behind the town ’ s annual film festival , has announced two events scheduled for this summer , including PAUL GIAMATTI in conversation with Montclair ’ s STEPHEN COLBERT , and a summerfilm showcase at The Clairidge movietheater .
Both programsare part of the second annual NorthtoShore PAUL GIAMATTI festival , which willpresentabevyofperformances , readings , parties and film screenings in Asbury
Park , Atlantic City and Newark over the course of three weeks in June .
From June 27-30 , Montclair Film ’ s Summer Showcase will include sundry independentfilm screenings , Q & As , panel discussions andother events , similar to the organization ’ s ownannualfestivalset to take place in October .
Aprogram schedule for the showcase willbereleased soon , after distributors confirm theirtitleswithMontclair Film , says Jill Montague , who works for the organization .
Over thesame weekend , Giamattiwill appear on stage with Stephen Colbert for a live discussion , beginning at8p . m . on June 29 , atthe New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark .
Tickets to the event are currentlyon sale throughthe Montclair Film website , NJPACand Ticketmaster .
Following his Golden Globewinning performanceinTheHoldovers , which showedGiamattionceagain teamupwith director Alexander Payne ( Sideways , 2004 ,) theactor willsitwithMontclairresident andhostofTheLateShowWithStephen Colbert to discuss his career in film , television andhis podcast , Chinwang , which MontclairFilmdescribes asadeepdive “ intothe wilderness of themind .”

‘ SOPRANOS ’ BOOTHSOLD
Aniconic pieceofNew Jersey history sold recently when HOLSTEN ’ S inBloomfield auctioned off the booth that was featuredonthe final episode of TheSopranos .
Thecelebrated seriesisset in theGarden State , but the person behind the winning bid is not from New Jersey . Chris Carley , co-owner of Holsten ’ s , told NorthJersey . com that the person who won asked the shop not to revealtheir name becausethey wanttomake their own announcement .
Carley could not confirm the final bidding price , but the auction ended on eBay earlier than the planned 10:02 p . m ., closing at 7:12 p . m ., when the site announced that “ the listing was ended by the seller .” The winning bid was $ 82,600 , withatotalof 238 bidsplacedfor thebooth .
The proceeds from the auction are going toward covering the cost of the renovationsthathavealready beendoneinthe restaurant , Carleysays . Specifically , theice creamparlor brought in new booths , benches and tables .
Carley says he was very satisfied with how everything turned out , after thebidding startedatonly $ 3,000 . Theowner says he is “ excited to getback to normal andget back to runningthe business that is busy to begin with .”
Many fans were upsettosee theiconicbooth go on sale . OnepostonX , formerly known asTwitter , reads “ thisbelongs ina museum !” Holsten ’ s responded that it didn ’ t wantto get rid of the booths but that they “ have been repaired many times and this furniture is over 60 years old . It has come to a point where they are structurally not safe anymore .” The Sopranos booth may be gone , but Holsten ’ s will always be rememberedaspartofasignificantmomentintelevisionhistory . — LUCAS FRAU
