OPEN TO THE OCEAN
(Left) The home was built at a level sufficiently
above the water on multiple floors. The living
room, which is accessible from the entrance via
a flight of stairs, is a comfortable setting where
the family — the couple has seven grown chil-
dren — can relax. A folding wall system opens
the space up to the oceanfront and screened-in
porch. Its open design allows for a continuous
flow and modern feel that incorporates the
kitchen and dining area overlooking the beach.
(Above) The fireplace surround is a blue azule,
says Pitaccio, and comes from Dente Trading
Co. in Cedar Grove. (Right) A closer look at
the white Macauba back splash and double
Dupont-edge island top, durable and stain-free
but so heavy that it took several men to affix
them in place. Polished nickel lanterns and
lighting, along with the metal hood, light up the
kitchen design, which was done in collaboration
with Designer Kitchens.
