CHIT CHAT DINER IN WEST ORANGE
NOW OPEN 24 HOURS
Last winter, we told you about some of the great food offerings at CHIT CHAT DINER
in West Orange, all served against a whimsical backdrop of Mackenzie-Childs décor.
By way of update, the diner recently expanded its hours, so now you can enjoy its
many delights literally 24/7. The late-night menu, served 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., has some-
thing for every night owl. Craving pad thai chicken egg rolls? Cheeseburger deluxe?
Grilled lamb chops? Maybe you’re up early — really early — and want to order from
the Breakfast All Night menu. Not a problem. • 410 Eagle Rock Ave., 973-736-1989,

QUICK HOME HELP FOR SENIORS
UMBRELLA, a kind of TaskRabbit geared towards homeowners 65 and older, is now
offering its services to Montclair area residents. Annual memberships of $199 grant
users access to “triple vetted” Umbrella Neighbors — local handy people, over half
of whom are recent retirees themselves. For a flat, fixed rate, they tackle light tasks
such as changing light bulbs, cleaning ceiling fans and organizing the garage, as well
as more heavy-duty projects such as plumbing issues, power washing and window
cleaning. Tech tutoring on iPads, Smart phones and computers, as well as seasonal
packages for landscaping and snow removal are also available. Timed with their
March launch, the company held a “Lunch and Learn” event at Edgemont Park
House in partnership with Lifelong Montclair, a community that focuses on helping
Montclairians age in place. • (973) 200-4499, AskUmbrella.com

MAY 2019 MONTCLAIR MAGAZINE
Montclair leads other communities in
caring for the environment, and here’s
proof: BIGBELLY, the manufacturer of
those large trash receptacles seen
throughout the town, ranked Montclair
as the best and most efficient user of
the system worldwide last year. The
company’s global data analysis indicat-
ed that the town had a 98 percent
efficiency rate, on average, placing it
first among the locations in 54 coun-
tries where Bigbelly operates. The most
efficient communities after Montclair
were Newham Council in the United
Kingdom, Florin Road Partnership in
Sacramento, Calif., and the Royal
Borough of Kingston upon Thames
in the UK.
