KEY TO SUCCESS
As Montclair High School students, nine young friends who played basketball
together were known for wearing key chains from South End Hardware. A
decade later, three of them have taken the skills forged in their day jobs and
created a business around that symbol of connecting. SAVEREO JACKSON is the
CEO and founder, EVAN HOLT is the creative director and ROBERT LISMA han-
dles marketing for CHAINGAN9 SUPPLY CO., which sells “culture-conscious”
long-sleeve and short-sleeve shirts, hoodies, crop tops, hats, tote bags and denim
jackets online. “We inspire and motivate one another,” says Jackson, who han-
dles the production end of the business from Atlanta and says that the company
has done custom work for celebrities. But it is the messages carried on their
products — “God made black beautiful,” “Community dreams” — that mean
the most to the group, he says. “When we come together for a cause, we see
immediate change,” says Jackson. “We want to be the change we want to see.”

AT PLUM ON PARK,
DINNER IS A SPECIAL EVENT
Natalie Lee, the owner and head chef of PLUM ON
PARK, says that her original business model was to be
open for breakfast and lunch, and to offer dinner at
the New American eatery as a “Supper Club” event
and for private parties. In October, she returned to
that plan, and now offers reservations-only, bi-monthly dinners on select Friday
and Saturday evenings. “I wanted dinner at Plum to feel like an extension of my
home, as if my customers were having dinner at my very own dining room
table,” she says. “I want to provide local and seasonal meals that feel like
home.” • For reservations, email Lee at [email protected].
