MERYL STREEP TO APPEAR
WITH STEPHEN COLBERT
AT NJPAC
With past interviewees including
John Oliver, J.J. Abrams and Steve
Carell, you’d think it would be
getting harder for Montclair Film
to top itself in planning its annual
EVENING WITH STEPHEN COLBERT
fundraiser at the New Jersey
Performing Arts Center. But have
no fear: They’ve found a solution,
because this year, Montclair resi-
dent Colbert interviews three-time
DECEMBER
Academy Award winner and MERYL
STREEP, a Summit native. All proceeds
from the event will benefit Montclair Film,
a 501(c)3 nonprofit arts organization that
8 P.M.
hosts the annual Montclair Film Festival
(May 3- May 12, 2019), as well as year-
round film education, cinema, and community programs
that reach more than 43,000 patrons a year. This
event is made possible with generous support from
northjersey.com. $79 to $624. • 1 Center St., Newark,

REDEMPTION II
KC SCHLOSSBERG [“Starring: A
New Generation of Performers,”
Back to School 2018] is fulfilling
the promise of our article head-
line. In an Instagram photo she
posted, she shows herself standing
beside a bus poster, and writes,
“I am a video game character in
RED DEAD REDEMPTION II! It was such a dope project to
be a part of. I’ve been walking past these bus stop posters
all week waiting for it to drop…” • Follow KC on Instagram

KUMON FOR CANINES?
Area dog owners who feel that their beloved pooches are
being underserved: There’s a new alternative to hiring a
dog walker. LECA (LIFELONG ENRICHMENT FOR
COMPANION ANIMALS) ACADEMY is a new program
run out of Brookdale Park, rain or shine, by trainer Scott
Galan. With a 5:1 ratio of dogs to trainers and a 15-dog
limit, the four-hour program includes picking up pets,
walking them and keeping them stimulated through
activity sessions that include basic obedience training,
sports games, “working activities” such as practice in
herding, and service training. In case of foul weather,
sessions are canceled. “Hiking, agility, climbing over
things — dogs love that stuff, and they get rewarded,”
says Max Belenitsy, who, with Gary Etinger, owns and
operates LECA. Customers commit to a minimum of
three days per week for a month, $32-$35 per day.
