HOME SWEET HOME The kitchen Rachael Grochowski designed for her family in Montclair .
say , I ’ m going to integrate my office . It happened because Iamopen and focused on making meaning in my work and life .
HOWHAS IT BEEN , AS ASOLO BUSINESS OWNER , TO RAISE THREE CHILDREN BY YOURSELF ? I could not have done it without the help of our nanny , who ’ s been with us for more than 13 years and is like amother to my kids . Laila , 18 , the oldest , attends the Climbing Academy and travels
the world ; Ionce got apicture ofher hanging off the side of amountain in Spain . Sophie is asophomore atthe Waldorf School in Chestnut Ridge , New York — she commutes there every day — and Jupiter is an 8th grader at the Coop School .
Our house on Briar Hill Road is aone of the only original contemporary homes in Montclair . Ihaven ’ t done much to it , but Idid my kitchen seriously . Imimicked something I had done for aclient where Iput a
big table in the middle ofthe room instead of an island . Now where my kids used tosit on one side and I ate standing up — itwas ridiculous — when dinner is done , wecan be sitting at the table for hours telling stories about our days or what we ’ re reading .
Every time Igoinmy kitchen , it gives me so much joy . It ’ sadream . When you see abeautiful moment , it reminds you to be present , and then you feel gratitude . ■
