CREATIVE COMMON AREAS
(Above) Streater’s family “does everything,”
including eating, in their cheery kitchen. Between
the leather-upholstered bench and leather swivel
chairs, the island, with its unusually thick marble
top, seats seven. The black screen in the back of the
room is an Amazon Echo, and the inset image shows
it displaying the weather. At rear left, an Aura digital
frame allows the family to upload and constantly
change the photos stored on an iPad. The kitchen’s
sleek yet comfortable look caught the eye of
Powerhouse Productions, which filmed two seasons
of Patti Labelle’s Place in it. “We had a number of
celebrities come through,” says Streater.
(Left) The living room is isolated from the other
common areas. Streater says that she saw the work
on the right wall (unseen here) in a Saatchi art cata-
log and based the room’s decor on it, incorporat-
ing her favorite black, white and navy blue colors
throughout. (Opposite) The dining room, highlighted
here with an arrangement from Blooms in Hand in
Verona, features a mixed-media-on-canvas artwork
depicting Streater’s daughters. “I found an artist on
Instagram and asked if she did commissions,” she
says. “I sent her a picture and described them as
feisty and nurturing, and she mailed this to me.” The
table and chairs are from Restoration Hardware.
