($17.25) because, she said, it’s popu-
toast made with mildly pan-seared
lar. I found this melange of mesclun,
diced tomatoes, sliced red onions,
mango, strawberries and feta cheese
rather bland, though the generous
slices of grilled chicken that topped it
were both tender and delicious.
Lest you forget, this is a diner, so
of course the portions are big. But try
to make room for dessert. If you love
chocolate, you can’t go wrong order-
ing a slice of the Big Fat Chocolate
Cake, which, as my dining compan-
ion put it, “lives up to its name.”
This hefty piece of moist seven-layer
confection is topped by chunks of
super-rich chocolate brownie ($6.75).
For a slightly less indulgent but per-
haps even more heady ending, go
with the Peanut Butter Pie ($5.95),
a delectable layered dessert of dark
chocolate and peanut butter mousse
dotted with bits of Reese’s Peanut
Butter Cups. To wash it all down,
treat yourself to a big cup of creamy,
frothy cappuccino ($4.95). ■
