All told , Bleiberg says she ’ s portrayed hundreds of journalists ’ pets . And soon , the public will be able to see adistinctive subset of them in
person . Bleiberg , whose home straddles the Montclair-Glen Ridge border , is collaborating with Montclair resident Francesca Castagnoli , creator of the Tiny Art Gallery , tofeature portraits of Montclair journalists ’ pets . A3-foot-by- 2-foot box on Castagnoli ’ sfront lawn , modeled after Little Free Libraries ( and featured in the May ’ 23 issue of Montclair Magazine ) will feature about adozen miniature portraits of pets owned by Montclair-based journalists including John Mooney , CEO and founder of NJ Spotlight ; Kate Zernike , New York Times national correspondent ; and JoePompeo , Vanity Fair correspondent .
“ What Ilove about Erika ’ swork is
how irresistible it is ,” says Castagnoli . “ The pets in her portraits , what can I say — the eyes have it !” The paintings certainly fulfill Castagnoli ’ sgoal for her Tiny Art Gallery , which is creating “ small , meaningful connections with art and storytelling in an unexpected way .”
