LOCAL STARS AT THE EMMYS
Montclair will bewell-represented at the 74TH PRIMETIME EMMY AWARDS , as three headliners with close ties to town are nominated or featured in works nominated for awards . HBO ’ s Succession , which received 25 nominations , is in the running for Best Drama Series ; it features the extremely busy resident Dagmara Dominczyk as Karolina Novotney , head of public relations for Waystar Royco . Succession is competing in the same category with Yellowjackets , one of whose stars , Montclair native Christina Ricci , is a contender for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Misty Quigley . And longtime resident and town booster Stephen Colbert ’ s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is a possible winner for Best Variety Talk Show . The show has been nominated many times without a victory ; maybe 2022 will be the big year . • The 74th Primetime Emmy Awards will air at 8 p . m ., Sept . 12 , on NBC .

ASTRANGE LOOP FOR AN MHS GRAD
Landing a major role on Broadway is a big achievement for any aspiring actor , but to do so at 23 is quite the accomplishment — especially when the role isone of “ a fat , Black , queer man ona Broadway stage ,” the description used by Montclair High School graduate JAQUEL SPIVEY to describe his character . In AStrange Loop , Spivey plays a theater usher writing a musical while wrestling with his thoughts and the world around him . The role is as mentally grueling as it is physically challenging , as Spivey is offstage for only one minute total during the entire show . A Strange Loop was nominated

WORLDFLATS RESTAURANT
After Nvair and Zareh Beylerian , a couple of Armenian descent , gave up eating meat , Nvair missed the ethnic foods she loved . So she made some adjustments — for example , substituting lentils and beans for the minced meat used in lahmacun , a Middle Eastern flatbread . Today , a version of that tweaked dish , dubbed Euphrates , can be found at the couple ’ s vegetarian restaurant , WORLDFLATS , the third location of which recently opened in Montclair .
Euphrates joins flatbreads from “ around the world ” — that is , thin Armenian flatbreads known as lavash , which sport spreads representing different world cuisines ; each is topped by a fresh salad . The Athena features a spinach and herb blend topped with arugula , kalamata olives , feta and tzatziki dressing , and the Bahn Mi , a Vietnamese creation , is slathered with a red bean and ginger blend and topped with Napa cabbage , pickled daikon , cilantro and scallions , moistened with sriracha mayo .
