A rear view shows the gabled roof atop the second floor master suite,
which features an outdoor deck. Below it, the addition’s deck is acces-
sible through doors on either side of the stationary French doors. “We
purchased the ugly duckling of the block,” says Agostinelli. “The original
house did not blend in well with the rest of the neighborhood. After
completion, our house looks like it has been there like all the other
homes on the block, for ninety years.” The homeowners were so pleased
by their new living quarters, in fact, that they gave Oasis Architecture
the ultimate compliment, according to Perlstein: They bought the house
next door as a speculative venture and hired the company to remodel
and build an addition for that one, too (it has since sold). ■
