Dr. Anthony Spain has been practicing the art of orthodontics in his hometown of
Montclair for 25 years. He has artfully created beautiful and lasting smiles for
thousands of families throughout Essex County. His highly specialized skill set
enables him to successfully treat a vast array of orthodontic cases. He readily
employs contemporary bio-mechanical and bio-engineering principles to treat cases
rapidly and as comfortably as possible. For those patients that insist on
alternatives to traditional braces, Dr. Spain is a Preferred Invisalign Provider and
also employs lingual (behind the teeth) braces in his practice. He also partners with
the best surgical teams to provide the very best in orthognathic surgical care. Dr.
Spain advocates early interceptive and preventative orthodontic/orthopedic care.
The American Association of Orthodontists, of which Dr. Spain is a member,
suggests that children should be evaluated by an orthodontist by age 7. That is the
optimal time when youngsters who exhibit harmful oral habits can and should be
treated with a heightened level of predictability and success. Dr. Spain also
diagnoses and treats temporomandibular disorder (TMD) and integrates
myofunctional therapy for patients who exhibit abnormal tongue, lip and speech
patterns.
Dr. Spain received his undergraduate dental education from the Rutgers School of
Dental Medicine (formerly known as The University of Medicine and Dentistry of
New Jersey - New Jersey Dental School). He continued his postgraduate training in
Orthodontics at Howard University College of Dentistry. He is an active member
of the American Dental Association; American Association of Orthodontists;
National Dental Association and the New Jersey Association of Orthodontists.
