B-Max is a novel approach to
squeezing into tight places.
But is it a smart option?
You may ask yourself why? Why
did Ford spend huge amounts of
money developing a B-pillarless
little runabout called the B-Max,
when, for very similar money,
you can buy the EcoSport with
similar power, accommodation
and utility?
I’m afraid I don’t really know the
answer to that question, other than
to state that the first time you pull
into your bud’s driveway and open
both sliding doors you may cause
a bit of a stir, as well as some relief
if there’s a brand-new, dent-free
Beemer or Audi parked close by.
Rear seat passengers are kind
of notorious for swinging open a

door and banging it against any
obstacle that happens to be
within its arc, and this won’t happen with the B-Max, because
