MoneywebDrive: Interview
Maserati’s new SA Deal
Interview with Glen Sealey, Managing Director
of European Automotive Imports.
MoneywebDRIVE: Glen, how did the split with
Ferrari in South Africa come about?
Glen Sealey: As far as the internal reasons are
concerned regarding Ferrari, I really don’t know.
We were made aware that there was an opportunity to reinvigorate Maserati in the South
African market, and so we certainly put our
hands up, because it’s a fantastic opportunity.
MWD: The group that you represent, European Automotive Imports, was it already in
place? Have you had a lengthy track record
in Australia and New Zealand?
10
GS: Yes. European Automotive Imports is a
wholly-owned subsidiary, falling under Ateco in Sydney. It is owned wholly by Neville
Crichton (Neville Crichton was well known
as a forceful competitor in Australian Touring Car Racing in the mid-1980s).
Under European Automotive Imports we
are importers of Ferrari and Maserati in
Australia and New Zealand, and amongst
other brands as the Ateco Group we import into Australia SsangYong, Chery, Foton and in New Zealand we do Chrysler,
Jeep Dodge, Alfa Romeo and Fiat.
