Imagine going into the amazing world of IKEA and buying the beautiful dresser you’ve been stalking online for some time now. You walk (more like run) to the inventory racks with irrepressible excitement. You put your dream dresser in the cart, pay for it, and then stuff it into your car.

Now of course, like most IKEA furniture, the dresser has to be assembled. You take everything out of the box, and you realize there are a lot of pieces and the instructions are more difficult than you imagined.

This is similar to going through life without budgeting or planning out your finances. It is important to have a plan like many things in the world of adulting. Personal finances have many parts with no clear instructions as we would like.

When you set financial goals, and create a plan to achieve your goals, you become more mindful of how today's choices could affect the tomorrows of life.
