MOMMY'S TIME OUT

3

A Note from Shelly Bishop - Sunshine Meal Coordinator

Happy March everyone! For those that don't know me, I've been a member for six or seven years (holy cow - time flies!) and I have 9 year old twins that go to Willis. I'm a busy mom who works a full-time corporate job and travels about a week a month. I'm also the Sunshine Meals Coordinator. Sometimes people ask me what that is - Sunshine Meals is a great way to meet new friends and help out another mom at one of the most busy times - after you just came home from the hospital after having a little one. I coordinate with the new moms as their due date is approaching and work to get others to pick one of three days to bring a meal. If you are like me, you think your cooking sucks (I seriously don't cook anything - husband does all that). You don't have to cook - one of my favorite go to meals is a rotisserie chicken with some sides from Fresh Market or Publix. Just this weekend, a mom told me "you have no idea... I had a meal for my family and I didn't have to do it!" I've received these meals before (my husband had a very serious heart condition in 2016 and we were in and out of cardiac ICU for months). I can tell you, they were a LIFESAVER, for those that have brought a meal - thank you!!

I can't wrap this up without saying what this group means to me. I think of it as my "Mom Army". A group of ladies that helps me find a new dentist, gives me ideas for a last minute date night, trades recipes with me, talks about the latest book we all read and drink wine together at book club... and so much more! Because of what I get from this group, I wanted to find a way to "give back" and, for me, Sunshine Meals was something that fit my life. I hope you'll take a moment and figure out how you can give back too!
