MOMMY'S TIME OUT

Book Review: One Day in December by Josie Silver

One day in December, Laurie is on a bus and falls in love - at first sight - with a stranger sitting at a bus stop. They don't meet then, but do meet later, and the timing is never quite right for them to explore what might have been had he jumped on the bus to meet her that first time their eyes met. It's a romantic story, and one that kept me guessing: Will they get together now? NOW? NOW??? Will they never get together? Are they just friends? For ever and ever?? I loved this book and found it slightly more literary/dramatic than chick lit. Think more Desperate Housewives than Real Housewives. The characters, their relationships, and their realities stuck with me. It's a great read if you'd like a beach read, but don't want something trashy or the last few books have killed a few too many brain cells. There's a time and a place for those too, but I didn't find this to be one of them. Give it a read and let me know what you think!
