Hello Friends,

Lauren has had a good month. Her counts were good at her last IV chemo appointment and she is scheduled for IV chemo and a lumbar puncture next week. We had a nice staycation at the beach over the July 4th week. It was our first family vacation in almost 2 years! It was so nice to feel "normal".

This week our sweet friend McKinley rang the bell and completed her last IV chemo treatment. I could not be more happy for her and Karen and their family. McKinley was diagnosed with the same leukemia as Lauren the year before Lauren was diagnosed. It really helped me stay positive seeing how well McKinley was doing and it gave me hope in those first few difficult months that everything was going to be okay. So thankful to know this special little girl and her family.

With back to school coming up I have decided not to enroll Lauren in VPK. Her immune system will be compromised for the next year until she is done with treatment and if she

gets a fever it could mean a hospital stay for her. It is just not worth the risk. Plus I can't even imagine how scary it would be for her to be in a classroom and on steroids. They make her so angry and mean for a week every month. She will go right to Kindergarten just a few weeks after she rings the bell next July.

I hope everyone is having a happy and healthy summer. Thank you again for all your love and support.

XOXO

Shawna
