Ben-Tzvi talks, service
Associate Professor Pinhas
Ben-Tzvi will give a research
presentation at the Jet Propulsion
Laboratory at the California Insti-
Ben-Tzvi
tute of Technology in March. His
talk will be on "Novel Field Robots
and Robotic Exoskeletons: Design, Integration
and Applications."
Ben-Tzvi also provided the keynote lecture
at the 2018 International Conference on
Mechatronics Systems and Control Engineer-
ing in February. His address was on "Recent
Trends on Modeling and Integration of Novel
Field Robots and Robotic Exoskeletons and
Their Applications."
Ben-Tzvi was recently selected as Associate
Editor of the IEEE Robotics and Automation
Magazine; and associate editor for the IEEE
Robotics and Automation Society's conference
editorial board for the 2018 International
Conference on Robotics and Automation.
Along with doctoral students Anil Kumar,
Wael Saab, and Hailin Ren, Ben-Tzvi pre-
sented three papers at ASME 2017 Dynamic
Systems and Control Conference as well as
serving as session co-chair, and chair for
workshops, tutorials, and special sessions at
the conference.
The presented papers included: Obstacle
Identification for Vision Assisted Control
Architecture of a Hybrid Mechanism Mobile
Robot; Maneuverability and Heading Control
of a Quadruped Robot Utilizing Tail Dynam-
ics; and An Inertial Sensor to Measure Wind
Turbulence with RC Helicopters.
Tian in Nano Letters
Assistant Professor Zhiting Tian

tic Transport" is available by clicking the link.
Williams webinar, publications
Associate Professor Chris Wil-
liams, John R. Jones III Faculty
Fellow, hosted a TA Instruments
webinar with Tim Long, director
of the Virginia Tech Macromole-
cules Interfaces Institute, "Design- Williams
ing New Materials for Additive
Manufacturing: Vat Photopolymerization."
Williams was also an author on: "Insights
into the mechanical properties of several triply
periodic minimal surface lattice structures
made by polymer additive manufacturing"
Polymer; and "Model analysis of feedstock be-
havior in fused filament fabrication: Enabling
rapid materials screening" Polymer.
Acar in Florida and AIAA Journal
Assistant Professor Pinar Acar
has two journal papers in AIAA
Journal: "Multi-Scale Optimi-
zation of Nanocomposites with
Probabilistic Feature Descriptors"
and "Data Sampling Schemes
for Microstructure Design with
Vibrational Tuning Constraints."
Acar
Acar presented two papers at AIAA SciTech
Conference in Florida in January: "Replacing
Microstructural Experiments with Recon-
struction Algorithms: Do Epistemic Uncer-
tainties Allow?" and "Multi-Scale Optimiza-
tion of Nanocomposites with Probabilistic
Feature Descriptors."
