Every homeowner does not want to become a beekeeper . With so many good reasons to save Honeybees , What is a Homeowner to do ? First look ( from a distance ) at your potential Problem , Is it really a Honeybee or is it a yellow jacket nest ( issue )?- Cell- phones work great for close-up photos from a distance . Once you are certain it is Honey bees , you have two possible options that save the bees and solve your problem . If the bees are in a tree , hanging on a fence or pole in plain sight , you can just wait . If you are willing to wait , the bees will relocate themselves within two to four days . If the bees remain past five days , Contact your local Beekeeping Association https :// texasbeekeepers . org / local-beekeeper-associations / or your County Agricultural Extension Service https :// agrilifeextension . tamu . edu / contact / to locate a source to remove the bees . More Bee removal information is found at https :// txbeeinspection . tamu . edu / bee-removal / .
A simple sighting of bees under an eaves seemed simple ( Photo1 ). Once this sighting was uncovered , two years of hiding bees were found ( Photo2 ). “ Swarms ” are bees just stopping to rest while ” house-hunting ”. Once the bees start making wax honeycomb , those bees are moving in to make a hive or bee home . This story has a happy ending , the bees were relocated to a safe new bee condo ( managed beehive ) and the Homeowner has easy access for a Contractor to tear out the old wood with bees wax and replace .( photo 3 ) . It is imperative that the wood is removed or otherwise properly handled or other bees will find the spot next year . Bee Pheromones from the residual wax can attract bees looking for a new home . Hope this gives you a brief overview of how you can save the bees and help both our food supply and health research .
